Application Awards

 

Submissions originating from a PhD thesis can be submitted. The PhD thesis must either be in progress or it must have been finalized no earlier than 2018. The author of the paper needs to be subscribed at a university.

Submissions are submitted using the category “PhD Student Paper”. The paper format corresponds to the full paper format of regular submissions.

Submissions will regularly be reviewed and – if accepted – papers will be selected for oral or poster presentation.
As regular submissions, accepted PhD papers will be published within the IOS Press proceedings.

Depending on the reviewers’ recommendations, the best PhD submissions will be selected for the Best PhD Paper finals. From all finalists, an independent jury will elect the winner of the Best PhD Paper Award, based on the reviewers’ evaluations, the written papers and the oral presentation.

The Best PhD Paper Award is worth € 500,-

Awards will be presented at the dHealth 2019 closing ceremony on May 29, 2019.

Best Master Paper Award

Submissions originating from a master thesis or equivalent can be submitted. The thesis etc. must either be in progress or it must have been finalized no earlier than 2018. The author of the paper needs to be subscribed at a university.

Submissions are submitted using the category “MSc Student Paper”.
The paper format corresponds to the full paper format of regular submissions. However, papers can be submitted both, in English or in German. English submissions may be considered for inclusion in the IOS press proceedings, depending on the quality. German submissions cannot be included in the IOS press proceedings, they will be displayed at the conference website.

Best Master Paper Award submissions will be reviewed in a separate review process and – if accepted – papers will be selected for oral or poster presentation. Depending on the reviewers’ recommendations, the best submissions will be selected for the Best Master Paper finals. From all finalists, an independent jury will elect the winner of the Best Master Paper Award, based on the reviewers’ evaluations, the written papers and the oral presentation.

The Best Master Paper Award is worth € 500,-

The E.T. Award – eHealth / Telemedicine Award for Innovative Patient Communication is assigned to the applicant who uses information and communication technology in the most innovative way, in order to establish new opportunities for communication in between health care providers and patients.
Eligibility Criteria

Institutions or individuals active in (public) health care, industry or science
Interdisciplinary groups or project consortia
Organisations or associations
The major contact person must be registered to the conference
Submitted projects need to show first results in the context of health care provision, i.e. they should at least be in a pilot phase.

Submission

Submissions must be written in English or German language. The following data need to be sent to us before 15.04.2019 in PDF format.

Project description (max. 10 pages) including a short description (max. 1 page), describing the following aspects:
Innovation (application, technology, processes, interinstitutional cooperation, … )
Benefit for patients (e.g. improved treatment quality, prevention of adverse events, new insights, economic benefits)
Presence of results so far
Sustainability
Description of the applicant (short C.V. of the main contact person, description of the company / working group / institution /…)

Only complete submissions are forwarded to the expert panel.
Awarding Procedure

All submissions will be reviewed by an independent expert panel. The expert panel consists of independent, voluntary experts who only review submissions that they are neither directly nor indirectly involved in. The price will only be awarded if at least three projects are submitted. The E.T. Award will be awarded at the annual dHealth conference. No recourse to legal action is permitted.

Startup Slam

Within the Startup Slam, selected start-ups will get the chance to convince the jury and the audience at dHealth 2019.
Criteria

Participants are invited to present their innovative ideas within a 5 min presentation. To apply, please submit max. 6 slides (in English) focusing on at least three of the following issues:

Which unmet need does your solution or service address?
What is your business model / go-to-market model? Who are the payers? Who are the users?
How will scalability and sustainabilty be ensured?
Does your solution or service rely on existing and available data, or do you create new types of data (e.g. patient data, health-economic data, clinical data)?
Is your solution / service already available? Is it already in use? Is is certified or do you still need certification?
